Got drawn for mutlispecies - facilities and property top notch. Successful doe harvest and too slow for coyotes but saw quite a few. Would drive the 4.5 hours to try standby. Have walk in cooler and game cleaning area with ice machine.
I love the Chap.
Very nice ranch for a state ran facility. Good accommodations for over night camping when available. Check on line for drawn hunts and other events. Texas Parks and Wildlife.
Keep up the great work.
Chaparral is an amazing place. It's a beautiful piece of land in South Texas. The People out there are great. Every year they do a raffle hunt through the Texas Parks and Wildlife drawn hunts thing, and I hunted at Chaparral Wildlife Management Area in December 2015, and had a great time. I killed a huge 9-pointer. I'm aspiring to be a Wildlife Biologist, and I was out there trying to get drawn for a standby spot for their big hunt of the year and after the drawing, in which we weren't drawn, I went and spoke to on of the wildlife biologists there named Sarah (she had been there when I hunted in 2015) and when I told her I wanted to do exactly what she does, she actually pulled me outside and gave me a list of things I need to do to get where she is. It was wonderful of her to take a few minutes and do that for me. She deserves a raise. If you can go out there to hunt, or just sightsee, if you do that, you should. The Chap is amazing.
I have been twice to hunt Javalina. Sadly I was not privileged to harvest one. Although I have enjoyed the State's facility, Staff, and native game.
First time for my family to hunt there. We love it!!! Definitely would like to go there again.
